Students get free tickets to Cowan Center performances

UT Tyler students get free tickets to shows at The R. Don Cowan Fine and Performing Arts Center (The Center).

To obtain a ticket: full time UT Tyler Students must personally present a 2017 Orange UT Tyler ID at [the] box office window to redeem for a ticket,” according to The Cowan Center website.

The box office hours are 9 a.m to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and one hour before each event.

This year, The Center’s 2017-2018 line-up features a mix of distinguished speakers, musical performances and even Broadway musicals.

On Oct. 10, political satirist and New York Times bestselling author Greg Gutfeld will speak as part of The Center’s Distinguished Lecture Series, followed by Grammy award winner and country singer-songwriter Rosanne Cash on Oct. 27.

Then in the spring semester, The Center will host Tony Award-winning Broadway musical Cinderella on Jan. 18, as well as other shows throughout the school year.

Students get tickets to all of these shows for free. Check The Cowan Center’s website for a full schedule.

What Else To Know

There a limited number of student tickets for each event and they are on a first-come-first-served basis. The tickets are for predetermined sections for students and students must show their UT Tyler ID at the door for admission on the night of the show.

The Center also sells Rush tickets at the door for $10 for students who did not obtain a free ticket unless the show is sold out.

Ticket limit is one per student (for both free and Rush).

The Fine and Performing Arts Fee

Plus, students pay $30 each semester for The Fine and Performing Arts Fee, which pays for the staff who run The Center. Students should take make use of it!

This Tuesday, The Center will host New York Times best-selling author, Libertarian satirist and host of Fox New’s “The Five” Greg Gutfeld.

Students would do well to hear his thoughts! Free tickets will be available at the door for full-time students with student ID. Don’t miss it!
